    I love Perlman and Yoyo-Ma playing together!

  2. Turnback says:

    @themarxmarvelous Williams arranged the two pieces into one, no one said he composed them.

  3. cclementi6 says:

    @Turnback the star spangled banner?

  4. costasimpson says:

    This performance was pre-recorded two days earlier.

  5. Doaders592 says:

    the song is” AIR AND SIMPLE GIFTS”, not two songs. Dumbass

  6. kinkyragu says:

    It is Spring. A Greatful nation, Thanks You, Mr. President.

  7. themarxmarvelous says:

    @ThaSchwab

    You’re not lying about your opinion on J.W.? I would hope not. It’s not an original composition, it’s an original arrangement of an original composition.

    @BodaciousBurnley

    You got me there, I forgot it was an adaptation of the old folk song. Still, credit should go to Copeland and Williams respectively. Not just to the one everyone knows because he wrote Star Wars (I’m aware he’s done so much more but ask your average movie goer and that’s what they would probably say).

  8. ThaSchwab says:

    @themarxmarvelous

    Favorites*, not videos

  9. ThaSchwab says:

    @themarxmarvelous

    Because this is an original composition BASED off Aaron Copland’s arrangements. And John is one of the greatest as well. Look at my videos; I am an aficionado in this kind of music and I’m not lying about him.

  10. BodaciousBurnley says:

    @themarxmarvelous

    It was arranged by Williams, but the source music is from songwriter Joseph Brackett by way of the Copland adaptation in “Appalachia Spring”.

  11. themarxmarvelous says:

    I’m sure that’s what it is but it was NOT ‘written’ by John Williams.

  12. mbdouglass says:

    more than likely this particular arrangement might be wrriten by him.

  13. themarxmarvelous says:

    Why in God’s name does the info say this is music by John Williams? “Air” and “Simple Gifts” were both arranged by Aaron Copland, one of the greatest American Composers ever.

  14. mangiatette says:

    Itzhak Perlman and Yo Yo Ma: genius

    Obama: the new Sir of the war

  15. Shannon4797 says:

    If they would have attempted to play it the cords could have broken on the instruments and the piano would have fallen out of tune.

  16. Turnback says:

    if the United States had an opening theme..

  17. mongorich says:

    No, YO yo mama

  18. liedowninthelight says:

    heh yeah

  19. ctchrisf says:

    I have nothing against it. makes. the point is they actually didn’t play it live during the inauguration.

  20. Saeon says:

    simple gifts is the shit

  21. CromwellClassical says:

    This is a faked for TV moment. They were motioning to the recording. World’s best musicians? Can’t play in the cold? Out of tune instruments? What a sham, and a tragic loss of a potentially heroic moment in American history, sacrificed to the conveniences of TV media. This country can put a man on the moon but we can’t figure a way to enable these players to play for real? How terrible. I don’t buy any of it! A sham!

  22. steamlord313 says:

    yeah, it was actually recorded beforehand.
    But really, it was way too cold for any sord of instument to sound good.

  23. krnboi93 says:

    clarinet not saxophone :3

  24. krnboi93 says:

    and your point is? they still played the piece

  25. sonnielicious says:

    yo mama
